Blog2019 ≫ Good grief I have a THIRTY YEARS AGO TODAY item from my gigography

Thirty years ago today I went to Anthrax at Hammersmith Odeon. A coach trip with a pick up outside the college. Did I bunk off early? Or was it all legit? I remember my awesome Anthrax / Judge Dredd big back patch on the back of my denim jacket drawing quite some attention from the other local metallers... Thirty years though, man alive. That's the sort of thing you see on a Status Quo poster, not the sort of thing a hip young gunslinger like me should be saying.

I can't find any images of that back patch online. I eventually took all the patches off and painted a Calvin and Hobbes panel on the back, and eventually gave the jacket to a friend.

I see Anthrax are still going with most of the same members1 as when I saw them. The same singer is back again, though the original lead guitarist is gone. I remember he was quite short and they made a feature of this during the show, bringing on some mini amplifiers... Also there is a 30th anniversary remastered re-release of the album they were touring2, including a version with extra tracks. One recorded thirty years ago today at the gig I was at...
