Booked the beetle in to be fixed today, arranged to drop it round at lunchtime today. The new place Trans-Porters are almost literally around the corner, this side of Cheriton. However the car would not start... My battery starter 1 didn't do the job either, doesn't seem like it has enough juice in it, though it's showing four lights like it is fully charged. It could be the cold and the damp also, the car has not been started in a couple of months. Going to recharge that and then try again. I have asked if they can come out and look at it, but no. We will get there but I might have to take another day off to sort it.
The plumber has quoted me and is booked in though, so some progress today.
