Blog2019 ≫ I won the treadmill auction, but at quite a price

I got fed up with seemingly just missing out on treadmills, so for the latest one we had our eye on I put in a high bid. I checked the price the same one had gone for recently in another area (£250) then went another £50, and then another 10% on top of that. Previously I had been putting my top bid at say £6.60 higher just in case there were other snipe bids going in a pound higher, but still losing. This time we got it, but at the very full whack of £330. I hope it's in very good condition as while prices online vary quite a bit1 I could have got the same one new for £5002. It's still a saving, and at least we're done, and by the weekend we will be training on it every single day and not just using it to hang washing on... Collecting at the weekend from Ashford.

Supposed to be icy and snowy out there today but it's not yet, not here. This is good as I have to cycle today and can't dawdle, I have to take the boys to school at 8:40 and then race to Hythe to meet my connection at 8:55.

I will get the Beetle fixed soon, though this has taken a small chunk out of that money. The money I put away for this treadmill got mostly frittered away, as money does. It's a profit share pay day in a week's time...

That Beetle that was for sale on the main road for £2700 and then wasn't for sale is now back up for sale again at £2500, so I am guessing the sale fell through. I hope there is something quite wrong with that car as that seems cheap. It is probably just that no-one wants a Beetle any more, they are out of fashion. This is another good reason not to try and sell our one, but also another good reason not to waste £800 on getting it fixed I suppose as it will never recoup it. On a more positive note though speaking to a friend at work who has the VW camper and knows a lot about these things, he thinks the quote of £800 was way too high and will help me find a front beam if that is what is needed.

Up early this morning as I went to bed very early last night again. I should have got up and gone for a run but did not.
