Blog2018 ≫ I had to stop listening to Vergecast

I used to really enjoy Vergecast, but they have badly messed up.

Vergecast is a podcast, the "flagship podcast of theverge.com" or something. Theverge.com is a tech website. They do a weekly podcast where (if you can get through the injokes) they talk about new tech and technology news. It's quite professional, but this week (the one I listened to this week) they were talking about Mark Zuckerberg talking in front of a select committee at the House Of Commons. This was funny because the MPs who spoke at this didn't make the best of impressions. This turned into the topic of what European politics is like, and how Prime Mininster's Question Time is basically just everyone's chance to shout at the Prime Minister and then "he gets to shout back".

That's not such a bad mistake, and not enough to stop me listening. Of the 75 prime ministers we've had 73 have been male, and the last female has been particularly ineffective. Casey Newton tipped me over the edge though, reportin on something Nigel Farage said he referred to him as the British Prime Minister.

I don't know if he was joking, or if anyone else picked him up on this mistake because I turned off the podcast and unsubscribed immediately.

I wonder what is happening in the world of tech now?
