Blog2018 ≫ "The print reinvention has helped us to attract a range of cover stars that the previous paid-for magazine could only have dreamed of"

What utter utter gibberish here in this story about NME finally being put out of its misery.

Time Inc's UK group managing director Paul Cheal said: "NME is one of the most iconic brands in British media and our move to free print has helped to propel the brand to its biggest ever audience on NME.com.

"The print reinvention has helped us to attract a range of cover stars that the previous paid-for magazine could only have dreamed of.

When it was paid for, it was good. What enabled them to put better people on the cover when it became a freesheet? It makes no sense. They have always been able to put whoever they like on the cover, without that person's permission, and I'm sure they even got in trouble for this.

The glory days of the NME were long behind it, they probably were before I went to work there. Still, end of an era and all that.

There's nowhere else for me to rant about this sort of thing. I would have done on the twitter if I still used it, or on popbitch if it was still going.
