Blog2017 ≫ I now have one Alexa voice controlled light

This is a bit of a step backwards in home automation terms though, as before I started today I had two lights in the dining room that were automated, coming on and off according to my calendar events and controllable by computer and phone and whatnot. I had to replace the lightwaverf dimmer with a regular dimmer, and I have one philips hue bulb and a regular bulb in that room. So the main light is voice controlled, the other light is now fully manual control. And there's a fully manual switch for the bulb that is automated so there's a good chance someone will turn it off which would stop it working... is it safe just to twist the two wires together and bypass the switch completely? I want this light to be permanently "on" according to the switch so it is only voice controlled. I need to consult a sparky friend...

Not sure if my next step is to get some ikea smart bulbs or to carry on trying to get the existing setup working with alexa. It's not very diy friendly so far can't get phue working anyway1...
