Blog2017 ≫ Portchester cider and sausage festival was awesome

When we finally got tickets and worked it all out the cider festival was awesome. First surprise of the night was that the venue had moved. I thought I knew where the community centre was, I had been there a lot, though the last time was probably my 21st birthday. The building had been demolished and moved across the car park. It's a nice new building, a really good facility and looks to be well run.

Was very busy, was sold out in advance and everyone had got there before we did, though we just about got a table. Yes a table, a different sort of event, the bar was in one room and there was a big room of tables, with a food hatch at one end. It was also a sausage festival (steady) and though my two buddies filled their faces there was nothing for me.

There was a quiz on the go, and then a band started up too. They were great, but we wanted to chat, so we moved into the other room for a bit.

Andy had decided to drive as he had an early start in the morning and he doesn't actually like cider, but Ro and I put a few away. Some really good choices, though I can't remember many of the names now. Brown Trout was one and Heron Crest maybe another. There was one disgusting strawberry cider best avoided, it just seemed off to me.

A lot of fun, and just down the road from Mum and Dad's so I could walk home again. Well, that was the plan, but in the end we went to the Miners Arms for a couple more, and I walked back from there. That is a nice pub too, making a bit of an effort I think. Good walk home, though a bit drizzly, I totally aced my step count.

So good to see a couple of my buddies for the evening. Next time will be christmas, if anyone is out.
