Blog2017 ≫ Status candle

Got an idea for an led candle, but raspberry pi powered. I wanted to get some of those battery powered led candles that you get and connect them up to a power supply instead so I could remote control them. The only ones I saw in real life were a bit crap or too expensive. So I've got a real candle, and some leds and I'm going to connect them up to a computer, see what I can do. Can I make it flicker realistically? Can I make it change colour? Can I get the flickeringness and the colour of it indicate something that is going on elsewhere in the world? Flickering orange: you have slack messages waiting, blinking red: there has been a nuclear war. Something like that. Will report back.

UPDATE: gave up on this one for now just not getting round to it. May come back to it later.

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.

💬 I made flickering LEDs, but they're not bright enough
