FG ≫ 2016 ≫ We're definitely seeing an increase in vanpackers round here

Not heard the term vanpacking before but I have now. This is what we see in Seabrook and Sandgate. It's not quite the gold coast but it's great for the people in vans who can park up for free right on the coast, wake up with a lovely sea view but without the mortgage. I love to see it, each time I walk past one I wonder, could we ever do something like that? It's not a problem, but I guess it might be if there were hundreds all fighting for the limited facilities.

I bet THE MAN clamps down on this if they build all those new houses along Princes Parade.

This is my site The FG that I built in a fury of excitement when I first came here sometime in 2004. I had been a frequent visitor for a while before that so I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. The site was updated more frequently with a gig calendar + voting for favourite venues + things, and I hear it was a useful reference for those who were thinking of moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is becoming the exciting place we always thought it was about to become. My name is not Gerald BTW, this comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are GRATE aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
