Based on something in Magpi the raspberry pi mag I'm now polling the wifi to see what devices are connected to the wifi. This is a reasonably good indicator of who is in and who is out as our phones will connect. I can use this to turn the heating and the lights off. Maybe also make sure the tumble dryer is off if no-one is in? I will have more on this, this is good I think.
