OK, eye test and hair cut definitely done, no messing there. I was worried about my eyes, been convincing myself I am going blind, should not be driving, probably it's a brain tumour, all sorts. Turns out they are fine, the optician recommends glasses for reading and computer work only, but not all day. "Computers and reading" pretty much my whole day anyway. As "computer work" was mentioned I get them free from work (and the eye test was free too) and because I'm friends with the optician I got them upgraded free with anti-reflective coating. I thought it was an unnecessary upgrade (like wheel balancing) when the assistant offered and turned it down but when it became free it sounds like a great idea. I hope Clare likes the frames I have chosen, but as I don't need to wear them all the time it's not a problem anyway.

Also got my hair cut, went to a different barber as I was in Folkestone anyway and pleased with it. Was very quick anyway.

I took the opportunity while I was out in town while the boys were both at school / nursery to go to Beano for an early lunch / late breakfast, I had the full vegan and very nice it was too. Brought back some cakes to have after tea too. I'd love to go in that place more often, it's great, but I can only really do it if I'm off on my own, which is never.

I did not actually make new shelves or decorate or do the garden, but I did go to Wickes and buy some wood and some paint and some lawn food. Not sure when I will get round to this but now I have the bits in at home, I can do it at my convenience. Next time I paint I can be sure I'm doing the whole wall in the colour I intended (matt brilliant white) instead of "I think this is white-ish, I found it in the shed". I also got new glue sticks for my glue gun, and staples for my, I think you can guess, stapler. They're particularly heavy duty ones, not just a desk stapler. Now I'm looking round for things to glue and staple, look out boys.

The cafe was officially "me time", though sloping round the DIY store was also very enjoyable. Neither was quite being sat in the pub, but it was nice. I'd love to be sat in the pub in the daytime, maybe Chambers, but had to be back soon enough for picking the boys up from school and nursery, and then we have swimming later too. It's all go.

Oh fixed one of my DIY security cameras that had gone offline too. Not sure what is up but swapped it out for another setup and can investigate the failing parts later, maybe tonight. Going to try booting the raspberry pi 3 off a usb stick too, and making it battery powered. This will be the brains of my robot. Or my beetle computer, not decided yet.

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.
