Blog2016 ≫ A step along the road to raspberry pi robot city

I set up the wiimote on the rasberry pi yesterday, using this old tutorial1 and example python code. Worked right away, which is unusual for something on the pi written in python normally there are chains of dependencies. This is good step towards a raspberry pi robot, as for Number one son to be happy with it as a robot it would need a handheld controller. Lots of examples use a PS3 controller. We don't have one, but we do have Wii controllers, so glad this is working.

It's not a robot yet of course, we have the external inputs but it's tethered to the mains and no external outputs (wheels, spinning blade, giant flipping arm). I have the power pack so next step is a remotely controlled raspberry pi powered by batteries, then after that start adding some external gpio things (whatever I have lying around) then invest in some motors and things...

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.
