I was sure everything was up to date and should be working, but it just would not for me. It was behaving 1 as if there was no bluetooth on the raspberry pi at all, so either the firmware was wrong or I was not really using a raspberry pi model 3 at all... Guess what, I was not using a raspberry pi 3 at all. At some point I'd swapped the sd card over and put it back into the raspberry pi 2 and it was that machine that I was trying the bluetooth on. Now got it paired with my phone, my laptop, my pebble, and my fitbit (I think, maybe it's Clare's fitbit) so can have a play with it... I think it's already reporting RSSI for the fitbit, as I move further away from the computer the number changes. So, if I get 2 more raspberry pis (raspberries pi?) then I can triangulate and the Marauder's Map will practically build itself.
raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.
