Ten years ago today The Mighty Boosh came to town

FG ≫ 2016 ≫ Ten years ago today The Mighty Boosh came to town

There's probably more going on in Folkestone than I think, but we don't often get anything good at the main big venue the Leas Cliff Hall. That changed ten years ago this day, The Mighty Boosh came to town. I did review it at the time, that's how long this website's been going, crikey. I don't have many contemporary writings of my twenty years ago stuff that I've been rediscovering.

I think we'd not actually seen The Mighty Boosh when we first bought tickets, though a friend had raved about the live show having seen them a lot at Hen and Chickens and other places, possibly Edinburgh. I knew of Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt from Nathan Barley though. We got the DVDs or watched the series on BBC3 or something and were converted.

Oh also Escondido hass been open for over ten years now.

This is part of my website The 'Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when I first came here sometime in 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while before that so I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events and voting for favourite venues and things, and I hear it was a useful reference for others who were thinking of moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was about to become. My name is not Gerald BTW, this comes from a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local newspaper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do contact me if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
