Blog2016 ≫ There's a hole in my butt

Gah, literally yesterday evening after tea I got my tools out and stripped the wire on another temperature probe, planning to put it in my butt. Water butt. But I got distracted, hmm, and the bits are all still on the bench down in the utility room. I noticed the water butt had been frozen solid for a couple of days, and now the home brew is done I thought I'd take another probe and leave it in the water butt and see how the temperature varies over time (as the graphs on the beer have been so fascinating). Didn't get round to it, woke up this morning, spotted the water butt is EMPTY. There's still a big cap of ice in it, but the rest of the water leaked out. Freezing must have made it burst. Not sure what the life expectancy is on one of these, but it's been here since the house is built, time to get a new one.
