Blog2016 ≫ Twenty years ago today I was at Skunk Anansie

Before I moved to London, when I still worked at University of Portsmouth, I used to help out at Portsmouth Venue Campaign gigs. I was also doing the fanzine at the time, but this was another way to get into gigs free and get up close to the bands, like some crazy stalker. This was one of those.

I really liked Skunk Anansie at first, I got their first single Little Baby Swastika - not taped it off the radio, I think they had a competition or something, or just the first 500 people to write in got sent one or something. I think I have two somewhere so is it worth anything? Hmm almost nothing one here for a tenner1, and no interest in it. Anyway I had probably gone off them by this point, but I did still really like the support Longpigs.

I would have done either taking tickets on the way in, cloakroom, and either handing out flyers on the way out, or handing out copies of my own fanzine $OLD OUT.

This is not one of the super memorable gigs at this venue, but it was a nice crowd of people who also helped out here.
