Here just need to write up a few notes, things that you need to get going. It's going to be good, lightwaverf comms and convenience but without the wifi link hardware being under the control of someone else!

You need

A raspberry pi ¹, I think any model is fine
433 mhz transmitter component ²
female to female jumper wires ³

arduino: Microcontroller, hardware prototyping platform, a tiny specialised computer.
