Blog2015 ≫ My beer is leaking

I have barrelled my home brew. Not my best effort, I left this a long time, because I didn't have the kit to finish it off and didn't want to spend any money on it before pay day. Pay day has been and I bought more sterlising stuff, and have now put the beer in the barrel. But it's leaking... Not sure if it's damaged, or a dodgy seal, or I just didn't tighten it up enough, but there's beer everywhere. Hope I've got it sorted now, but I've lost a few pints (more than an arm full). I also used gas to pressurise the barrel for the first time (though after I fixed the leak, so it's not the cause). The effect was quite impressive, I thought the barrel was rigid but it ballooned right up when I put a gas cannister in it. Adding CO2 makes it not strictly real ale I think but if it stops oxygen getting in then it should keep longer. My previous brews have been pretty manky towards the end of the barrel...
