Got through to fitbit support in the end that the fitbit charge I bought for Clare just did not work, and they've agreed to send a new one. I don't need to return the old one, so that will go in the "tech junk" drawer forever in case I figure out some way of bringing it back to life. They estimated it would take four to six weeks to get us a new one in black as there is a big backlog of orders (all faulty / broken ones I wonder?) but I got a text today from the UK delivery company saying to expect it tomorrow. Clare is pleased, so she will have it in time for Edinburgh. Hope this one works...
Actually I think I hope this one doesn't work, and then we have a lightbulb moment where we realise we've been holding it upside down or something and then we have two working ones. Unlikely. On balance I hope it just works.
I can take the old one apart I suppose, see what sort of battery is in there, maybe just replacing that will do the job. Or maybe I can frankenstein something together. Unlikely...
