Blog2015 ≫ Another day off

Joined all my days off together, so I'm off again today. Feels like a Saturday but it's still only Friday, and I have a long weekend anyway! Just doing jobs today, got the boys hair cut and sorted out my driving licence. I need to renew it, not sure why, the picture is still good, I have not aged in the last ten years. Still it is done, and we've been to the library too.

Raining quite heavily at the moment, so we're in from playing in the garden and I'm struggling with getting Number one son to write his learning adventure (homework) for school.

Clare is out tonight, I might do some diy surveillance. Not spying on her of course, but rearranging my raspberry pi cameras. The main one pointed out the front went wrong a while ago, everything was green for some reason. Sure it's not just that it's pointed at the lawn. So I'm rearranging and will use the new rasperry pi 2 for that camera. I had it as a Kodi (xbmc) media centre for a bit, but will put another in its place.

Investigating Google Photos, think it's just a slightly evolved version of what I was already using but with unlimited storage now. This is great, I pay google for extra storage right now just because I use it to back up all my photos. It's only unlimited if you don't keep the original sizes online, and mostly I do, so I'll see.

It's clever that it does some kind of auto-tagging of pictures, so it knows this is an easter picture, that one is a car etc, but it might well negate all the tagging I've done over the years. I hope I can sync any data back to my own local copy of the images, and I hope the api is easy to use, then I can carry on with showing my own pictures next to these blog posts like I do now.

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.

xbmc: XBox Media Centre, some software that would run on an old X-box or other computer hardware to play movies + music etc. I used to talk about this a lot...
