Blog2015 ≫ What can I use one of these for?

I love getting the Cool Components1 email, it always gives me ideas. Well, half ideas, hence me still wondering "what can I do with a motion sensor" rather than saying "I know EXACTLY what I'll do with this motion sensor2"...

Clare is out shopping today, her christmas treat being cashed in, so it's just me and Number one son and number two son today. Thing one's playing wii sports resort and Thing two's watching happily at the moment. If I get some time today I'm going to have another look at my laundrino project, putting my washing machine online. So far thinking of pointing the raspberry pi camera at the clock on the washing machine with motion motion detection to see when it changes and tesseract ocr to read the time on it - risk free, compared to opening up the washing machine I'm sure you'll agree. So far nfw though (nothing flipping works) I think I have one duff camera and one good one and I must have connected the duff one up. Either that or it's the extended ribbon connector that is to blame. Will report back.

Oh also watched Cockroaches again last night on ITV2, not as good as I thought it was going to be from the first episode, even though Alexander Armstrong made an appearance this time.

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.
