Aaargh unexpected and large car bill!
Lovely, Clare took the car into the garage today because it's getting harder and harder to get into gear, and it needs a new clutch. Could be worse could have been the gearbox I suppose. It's 360, an annoying amount of money to be sure.
UPDATE: AND now it turns out it needs a new gearbox :-( Getting to the point where it's not worth doing, though we're committed to the labour costs anyway. And if we don't replace this then what do we do, we have the hassle of looking for a new car, and finding the money for that.
Clare is keen to get a new car, on finance or lease or something, I have always been opposed to the "never never" type options. A car is just a liability though. I hate cars.
UPDATE UPDATE: Seems to be only another 120 to replace the gearbox, can that be right? I'm still well out of pocket, but at least it's no so much money that we're seriously thinking of just scrapping the car. We do still have one outstanding issue, the seatbelt light is on permanently and the garage couldn't fix it. They say take it to Ford, get them to have a look, but I've been putting it off as I expect that is going to be expensive. Now, if I take that in and it is going to cost me a 1000 or something then I will be annoyed, as with that and this bill that comes to about the value of the car...
I'm going to give you one more chance little Fiesta then it is the scrapyard for you!
I could lease a land rover defender1 for only... hmm actually that would be relatively expensive. 1500 down plus 235 a month, plus vat. So I think about 8568 over two years JUST TO BORROW IT. Plus arrangement fee. Cars are rubbish.
