Blog ≫ 2014 ≫ Lawn experiment
My lawn is looking quite green at the moment, quite nice, with all of the extreme weather we've been having recently (sunny days and brief but intense storms) but it still has a few bald patches. I got from Gardeners World that there's probably some layer of something that the grass can't grow through, dig through it with a fork and that will sort it out. I've done this, and put in some new seed, and it's partly worked. I didn't go far enough; the seed has grown exactly where the fork went in, so I have odd little plugs of grass now in the bald patches. Here's an example of the worst bit:

However the lawn generally is looking healthy (though needs a cut). I need to be bold and really dig up those bald bits and start again...

Up too early this morning. I love being up early, gave me a chance to check out the lawn (and take these pictures), do the recycling and write this before anyone else got up, but I hate getting up early. I just misunderstood this morning. Clare mumbled "your turn to get up first" and I heard that as "your turn to get up first now". So my day is about forty minutes longer today.
Hmm the lawn looks better in the flesh than it does in that picture. My little patch is only the bit on the right remember, on the far left where it starts to look weedy is my neighbour's.
