We went to Disneyland Paris (it's apparently not called Eurodisney any more)!
A four day trip, generously provided by the in-laws, an opportunity to get all of their children and grandchildren together. We headed off on Thursday morning to the channel tunnel, the one you take your car on, not the eurostar. Normal delays on there, but a stress free crossing, then a fast drive down to Paris. Not a stress free drive either, as we pulled into our services lunch stop all of the coolant spurted out of my engine bay for some reason, leaving a bright yellow river underneath our car. NOW WHAT??? Still not sure exactly what happened, maybe a hose came loose on the journey, maybe a leak got worse, but I bought more coolant (completely ignoring the "make sure you get the right type for your engine" ideas that Halfords tell you, I just had to get what I could) and then drove cautiously on to Paris. The car held out for the rest of the journey, but I've got to get it into a garage asap for that and another bit...
We checked into the Davy Crockett Ranch, a bit like a cut down centreparcs really, big log cabin style static caravans in a woodland setting. Then we raced to the park, as we had been delayed, so were in danger of missing our on site dinner reservation. More delays getting in to the park, we needed to pick up a wheelchair for Pauline, but eventually made it to the table. Quite a good buffet in the Garden Plaza restaurant, better for other people than me but everyone had a good dinner.
I think we went on some rides on our first evening, Clare went in Space Mountain while I queued for Buzz Lightyear lasers with Number one son. Lots of queuing in the park over the weekend, to be expected, it was half term. We can never go anywhere out of school holidays again, until the boys have left school!
All my pictures and videos are up now, I don't really have too much else to say about the trip now I think about it. It's always the way when I leave a "write up" too long.
We spent a day in the Disney studio park, not much there I liked but the stunt show was good. Plenty of room for everyone to see what's going on, and no queueing. Partly because we got into the disabled section with Pauline being in her wheelchair. Lots of chasing about and explosions and also Lightning McQueen made an appearance. The real stunt stuff was much better than that bit, though it's all a bit fake pretending it's a real studio and they're making a real film.
Spent some time back at the Davy Crockett ranch, didn't get a chance to really hang out in the bar there or play pool, but we ate a couple of meals in the restaurant there. The food was great there, another buffet again, but lots more vegetarian options, including a vegetable chili. Spent quite a lot of time in the park there, Number one son and number two son really enjoyed it.
