The funny colouring there is because this is the pi noir infrared camera. So hopefully I'll get some night vision action, but I'm still to see.
Not sure exactly what was stopping it before but some library I installed after reading this2 made it all kick into life. Not sure if these instructions3 about getting the pi noir camera working with motion are missing a step, or it's just that I had messed about with some settings but still, all good now. Just waiting for nightfall and me to put some badger food out...
UPDATE: does not work how I thought it would. Of course, I need an infra red light source, something to shine invsible light on to the badger, that the pi noir camera will pick up. So more expense, and more wiring needed.
