Blog2014 ≫ Annoyed about Metallica at Glastonbury

Disclaimer: I went to Glastonbury 20 years ago, and I saw Metallica 20 years ago, so I am officially an old fart whose opinion counts for nothing in this debate. HOWEVER, I don't see Metallica and Glastonbury being a very good fit, especially as headliner. I am not sure that they are a band that the posh girls in flowery wellies (who make up 90% of Glastonbury's audience now, you can have that sweeping generalisation for free) can just drop into. No-one is going to be able to say "oh I know this one" and waver their lighter in the air, are they? I'm aware that both Glastonbury and Metallica have changed a lot in that time, indeed both had sold out before I got involved, but have they really changed enough to cross over?

I'll go back to Glastonbury one day.
