You might have to click for the full benefit of the video. That fire engine came from a boot fair last year, it worked great for a while, then when the battery went flat the charger that came with it would not charge it. I bought another charger, which also did not do the job (was a cheap ebay job from china), so then I got a solar panel charger, which is permanently fixed to the shed. We leave the fire engine plugged in to it so it is trickle charged by the sun. And it's working great! And this video (in case you have not watched it yet, or it is somehow deleted off the internets by the time you read this) shows number two son driving it round the garden all by himself.

I'm a bit disappointed that it is working so nicely really, when we got it out last week I said "let's try it, if it's no good I'm going to break it up for robot parts"...

I think I can still do a bit of a frankenstein stitching together of various idea, put a remote control on it so I can drive number two son round the garden...
