Blog2014 ≫ Good weekend but didn't do much

As previously mentiond Clare was away in London and she had a lovely time by all accounts. She went to Cirque du Solei and hung out in Stokey where we used to live. Didn't go to Il Bacio which was originally part of theplan, but did have breakfast in a cafe with Archie from Monarch of the Glen (Alastair Mackenzie). OK, he was in the cafe too, Clare was not actually with him. At least that is her story. Been a long time since I mentioned Il Bacio and Stokey here! You have to go back to my very earliest posts... Hopefully I will get up to Stokey some time this year, see how it has changed.

Anyway, while she was there, we had a boys weekend. Dropped Clare off at the station, and then headed to shops for lunch and rope (of which more later0. Found at the rope shop that I had left my bank card at the train station, so had to race back there upsetting my very tight schedule. Got back in time to make lunch, eat lunch, and get number two son down for his nap in good time.

We made a sort of cable car pulley system with the rope for Number one son's homework. They had been reading The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch1 at school and doing some sort of practical problem solving around it. This was mentioned in thing one's "learning adventure" journal thing, which I took to mean "make up your own homework based around this", so we made the cable car thing to deliver sweets from the shed up to thing one's window. Worked well, and reminded me a lot of the action man ski lift / cable car that Dad made, following Blue Peter instructions.

Tried to go out Saturday afternoon after the little one's nap, but got hailed on, so gave up.

Stayed up too late on Saturday night, what a mistake, about to go to bed and then remembered I hadn't watched Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel in ages. Man alive that is a good film.

Sunday morning I had a bit of a headache, but just about coped. Packed Number one son off to a birthday cinema party, cleaned up a bit and played with number two son until Clare came home.

Swimming was good, got thing one's badge and certificate, and very proud to see he's really going for it in the going underwater department.

And now back at work. At least I have some good coffee at work now, invested in a big bulk order of Nespresso pods.
