Great article here1 about kids who are constantly told they are smart going on to underperfom. I think the issue is probably that all the kids in this study were told they were clever, when really they are not. I have noticed that other parents have an artificially high estimation of their kids cleverness. This is particularly annoying for parents of genuinely clever kids like what I am.
number two son finally started clapping this week, and using cutlery by himself. He seems to want to feed himself now, he doesn't want to be fed. The not-clapping has become a game I think, he knows it is a marker everyone is looking for and he just won't do it.
