We got some stuff through from the council about the Prince's Parade "consultation", it was an utter whitewash. It has clearly been decided to develop this land and put lots of flats on it and they're just trying to find ways to spin it. Got this email:
Dear Supporters of Save Prince's Parade,
We are waiting for the next stage in the consultation and it is likely that there will be a Shepway Council meeting in December to discuss what the consultants have been doing.
In the meantime there is a public meeting to discuss and hear peoples views on the Neighbourhood Plan, to be held in Hythe on Saturday the 12th October 2013 between 10.00am and 2.00pm.
This presents an ideal opportunity to voice your objection to the development of Prince's Parade:
- The impact on the Royal Military Canal will be completely over powering
- The development will reduce habitat for wildlife as well as wildlife corridors
- The site is not financially viable because of the contamination
- The sea front is the wrong place for a school, the allocated site in Eversley Rd is better.
- The proposed swimming pool will fit on the existing South Rd site (without the need to build 180 car parking spaces)
- To become viable the council will have to grant planning for 300+ residential properties, which will destroy all the vistas and distant views.
If you can't come along to the meeting, please feel free to email David Monk the leader of Shepway on:
Kind regards and thanks for your support.
The school mentioned there is actually the school thing one goes to right now. There are long term plans to build them a new school as the current site is very small, but there's no need for it to get tangled up in this development.
