Blog2013 ≫ Just ordered some components

A 433mhz receiver and a 433mhz transmitter from coolcomponents.co.uk1. Been meaning to get these for ages, but now I have a real need. I want to see what's going on wirelessly in my house, see if anything is interfering with my home automation sending signals in this range. When I'm done I'll hopefully be able to do everything I need just from the raspberry pi or arduino and then I'll be able to get rid of the lightwaverf wifi link2, and also mix and match a bit with some other rf hardware in the house.

I also ordered an air quality meter component, that can check for carbon monoxide and so on. Purely because Clare put the fear into me, and I love my family so much I now feel I am letting them down by not constantly sniffing for this in the house. So now I get to meet two objectives at once, reassurance about home safety, and also unwise electrical hackery!

arduino: Microcontroller, hardware prototyping platform, a tiny specialised computer.

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.
