Blog2013 ≫ Great weekend

Visited Mum and Dad for the weekend. For the first time we did the drive there more or less non stop. Usually we stop for lunch half way, mostly because number two son needs a feed, but this time we went a bit earlier and decided to power through. Just a brief loo stop at some road side services on the A3, but no proper stop.

Saturday afternoon was an open day at Fareham Fire Station. Number one son was a bit apprehensive about it, but was just starting to get into it when the chip pan fire demo started. He did not like that:

Having a go on the hose was much better. He said later that was his favourite part. As well as the demonstrations there were fire engines to climb inside, and a driving experience, where we followed the route of a real call out, with Number one son driving the fire engine, great! The police were also there...

Saturday night for tea Dad made a spectacular vege paella for us all. I had some of the leftovers cold for tea the next day and it was possibly even better, so we're definitely going to make one of these this week.

Sunday morning went to a boot fair in Bridgemary as Kerry was doing it. She did quite well, and we bought a few bits too, but the weather turned too bad to stay too long. Great Sunday lunch with everyone, then we had to head home again. We did the same non stop on the way back too. Was a slower drive because the weather turned awful, and there was no visibility for most of the M25. But still, a successful drive. I hope we can do every journey like this now. It's nice to reach these landmarks! number two son did not settle very well that evening, partly because of sleeping in the car too long in the afternoon, shame. He is teething too, he has two clearly visible choppers at the bottom now.
