Blog2013 ≫ Lightwaverf magnetic switches

These1 magnetic switches1 are now available apparently - connect them up to your lightwaverf home automation setup and have devices turned on automatically when a door or window is opened, or turned on with a delay, and optionally turned off again after a delay. Handy for rooms like our study where you'd always want the light on because there is no window. Or maybe some other security solution.

I have finally put together my slice of pi/o board for the rasperry pi so I can start connecting other hardware to it. Don't want to risk my main raspberry pi though so just setting up the second one again. This is the pi that I got when I did the Asterisk training but then powered itself down and did not work again... I am hoping it's just a software issue so am installing the operating system again and will give it a try (if I get time) today. Then may well move that one to the shed and try and power it from the solar panel. Then I can do some wireless stuff from there, security monitoring with the camera, turning the lights on automatically, or triggering an alert when the shed door opens. Lots of (mostly pointless) applications, but interesting anyway.

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.
