Blog2013 ≫ I went in the Firkin Alehouse this week

Had the car MOT'd during the week off and while I was waiting for it I tried to go to Beano's cafe. Thought I'd wait there, have a coffee, read my book, and then pick the car up. But NO, Beano's was rammed to the gills, there really was not a spare table there. So I walked up in to town and checked out the Firkin Alehouse instead. This place is amazing, have not been in a micropub before. It is a small space, no messing, a few tables, no bar, and a selection of real ale. It's like the Leas Lift Beer Festival, a delightful surprise in an unexpected venue. I am looking forward to going in again soon and giving it another go.

It's strange that it's so close to Chambers, which is my favourite place in Folkestone and also the place I would usually think of going for real ale. I would not usually forsake Chambers for the Firkin Alehouse (though I did this time, briefly) they are very different kinds of places. Next time we go out is in two weeks, I look forward to a few drinks in each.

My lights have just dimmed (done some more work on the lightwaverf ruby gem3 to support dimming) which tells me it is just about time to go and feed number two son and then go to bed. Back to work tomorrow for the first time after a week off!
