It could be I've not published the ruby gem right, I'll test some things and get back to you.
First things I think it might be from your end, is your computer paired with the device you are trying to turn on, and your wifi link? Try to pair a device, put it in learning mode and try a command line power on:

and watch the lcd screen on the wifi link, it'll say something like "register device?" and you need to press the button on the wifi link itself to confirm. Then you might have to do the pairing again.
If not that, have you got your room and device named right in the config file, and have you got the ip address of your wifi link in your config file?
