Blog2012 ≫ I made my own christmas card using gimp

Here's the gimp source file 1 and here's the card as a jpeg 2... I'm sharing them hoping someone will share back a better version 3. I don't mean with a picture more lovely than that grimmace from my two boys, but I mean a slightly neater frame and some cleverer gimp techniques to make a more professional looking card.

I did it this way instead of using moonpig or funky pigeon or something because a) I like the diyness of it all, and b) I am very cheap. I got something printed at tesco recently and realised their photo prints are plain on the back, can be written on, and can be printed big enough to fold over. So I made a card like this (and a few variations as thank you cards for number two son's new baby gifts) and am pretty pleased with the results. If you print them out as 6x8 at tesco they are only 50p each.

Share your gimp templates with me, or [reply]let me know[/reply] 4 if there is a better way for me to share these...

  1. Now removed.
  2. I've still got the card files but just not sharing them here any more.
  3. This was naieve, no-one got in touch. I wish there were more christmas card and other celebration card templates out there for gimp.
  4. You used to be able to post replies in 2012, thought not sure anyone did to this one. Here in 2022 you cannot.
