Blog2012 ≫ Got my Pi on!

I'm posting this from my raspberry pi, decided to blow the dust off it and try and do something with it.

Am sat quite uncomfortably on a bean bag on the lounge floor, as the pi is connected to the main TV and I'm too mean to get a wireless keyboard or anything for it, so using the keyboard off the old imac and a usb extension lead for now... i've got ssh in to it so I can access it from the laptop, but I haven't figured out if I can control the desktop and so on from that yet.

Going to install ruby on it so I can run wiring1 on it and do some of the same experiments I've done on the arduino. Also going to see if I can get drivers for the old netgear wireless dongle I have so I can then put the pi somewhere more remote and use it for some kind of monitoring. Wondering mostly about the temperature of various points of this house. number two son's room always seems really hot, though there is no heating on in there or in any point around it, but our room and Number one son's room is quite cold unless there is some heat on. I have some heat sensor jobbies that I have done things with on the arduino, so should be able to reuse the same skills...

Nice to see this website and the new twitter authentication works nicely in another browser like this.

Why has no-one else tried to post a reply yet to anything I've said? You can if you have a twitter account2.

arduino: Microcontroller, hardware prototyping platform, a tiny specialised computer.

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.
