Blog2012 ≫ Remote controlled sockets for a fiver from Maplin

This1 is not as nice as the lightwaverf that I am investing in at the moment but it's CHEAP! This looks like a much better bet for hacking home automation than any of the others I've seen so far because it is so cheap. B&Q have a three-for-twenty-quid on the old easyhome.eu sockets which I thought was good, but for five quid it's going to be worth getting one of these, opening up the remote and wiring it into the arduino or raspberry pi.

Slightly cheaper for experimenting with than the FIFTY QUID I wasted on a relay hub.

arduino: Microcontroller, hardware prototyping platform, a tiny specialised computer.

raspberry pi: Credit card sized super cheap computer, awesome.
