Welcome to Folkestone Gerald

FG ≫ 2012 ≫ Welcome to Folkestone Gerald

Welcome to Folkestone Gerald1, a guide to Folkestone, Kent, UK. Here you can book tickets for gigs / concerts etc, find pubs, restaurants, bars, or just ask a question.

I used to allow replies / comments on here, and this paragraph would have had the latest comments from http://www.folkestonegerald.com but no more. Since moving to a static site a long time back that's all gone. Sorry but there was little value, too much spam, and just not worth maintaining a system that could support comments.

Latest confirmed shows:

I used to list gigs on this site, forthcoming events. I don't update the Folkestone content at all any more, so no gigs I'm afraid. When I did they would have appeared here.

Is your gig listed here? Why not add it? Let me know, leave a message or twitter me or something - @pauly / @folkestone...

OK, you got gig listings, occasionally a map of Folkestone, a Folkestone gig guide map, but also check out the Folkestone Forum... it's part blog, but you can post your own stuff, so it's part message board... just needs a twitter handle to post there2.

Got Twitter, @folkestone3 if you like. That and @pauly are the best way to let me know what's going on, and if I can help out with spreading the word I will. I promise I'm going to try harder to keep this up to date.

Calendar maybe coming back, in some form or other. Map might be fixed too, though is that useful.. Any more suggestions gratefully received... Ooh top venues, as voted by you:

I used to have a top ten of local venues on here, kept automatically up to date. There was voting on venues on http://www.folkestonegerald.com but since I moved to a static site that is long gone. There is still a frozen list of venues there, as it was when I last counted the votes. Much harder to keep that sort of thing up to date now.

No offence intended if this gets gamed and someone shunts my own personal favourites like Chambers off the list.

This is part of my site The Folkestone Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first came to Folkestone sometime in '04. I had been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that but I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. This site was updated more frequently with a gig calendar + voting for best venues + things, + I know it was a handy resource for those who were thinking of moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was about to become. I am not Gerald BTW, the name comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are GRATE aren't they? Do get in touch if you have something to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
