Blog2012 ≫ Can you help with my six wire stepper motor?

I have a spreadsheet1, but I'm guessing now it must be wrong. I have been following this guide2 that was supposed to help me find what each wire is for on the big old stepper motor I salvaged out of an old printer, that I will use for building my robot butler... but that spreadsheet looks wrong, it does not make sense. I was really expecting to spot easily that wire a, b, and c were connected to one coil and d, e, and f connected to another with no links between them, but the resistances I have measured don't show this... I think now that when I was measuring the resistances I must have shorted some of the wires. I have six wires flapping about so it's quite likely. I'm going to have to measure again I think, but then if I still have suspect readings I will be needing help...

I am sat up ready to give thing two his midnight feed while Clare sleeps. When he's had that, and I've changed him again, then I get to go to bed and Clare will listen out for him. This system is working well so far, not sure how we'll cope when I have to go back to work...
