Blog2011 ≫ A day of proper work

Been optimising my sql today, exciting stuff. Yet again I have found you get better performance taking the database jobs away from the database, it's so disappointing. Today I removed some grouping from some queries, just selecting all the data and letting the php do the work. Without grouping mysql doesn't need to make a temporary table, so everything runs a bit faster and uses less resources.

It's not real actual work like most people would recognise though, I was still just slouched in front of the computer. This weekend I did some mor satisfying actual work, I got more nails out of more of that free wood I got from B&Q. My hands are rough today, like a man's.

Still no sign of my shed, hope they can deliver soon. But not while we are at Suede.
