Just back from a lovely long festive weekend at Mum and Dad's terrible run back taking five hours but I'll start at the beginning and focus on the good stuff!
Great run down there on Friday taking only two and a half hours, including a stop. Straight to Kerry's house, where Dad and Nan were too, though Mum was still working at this stage. Mum got out of work a bit early, then we had a splendid tea of shepherds pie, then Clare and I headed to The Crown to meet some friends for our traditional 24th of December drinks. Had a great evening there, cheers chaps for making the effort to come out.
Christmas day itself (I have been trying to avoid the word Christmas, just to annoy Clare really) I got a great haul of goodies. New clothes and wine glasses from mum and dad, socks and slippers from the boy, and from Clare tickets to see Richard Herring's Christ On A Bike next week, a new Harry Clarke illustrated Edgar Allen Poe and a fabulous Dremel soldering iron1.
A great dinner round Kerry's made for a really nice christmas day.
Had quite a lazy boxing day, played some scrabble and ate more and more and more.
Tonight I have a night in with the boy, though after his bath he will be in bed of course. Clare is out with friends tonight, then tomorrow we have a christmas feast all over again round Dom's house. Looking forward to it! And I still have another week off work...
