Ben Spalding is advertising on Gumtree3 for a "chef de partie"
chef de partie needed for a new opening in february in fokestone, dover preferred to have rosette or michelin experience, but more importantly MUST have a great attitude and be prepared to work very hard and long hours with michelin trained chef (ex ramsay, ex thomas keller). This is a brilliant chance to be part of something special, would suit recent college leave or extremely passionate cook prepared to GIVE THEIR ALL. Contact ben by email to talk more if interested..No timewasters
Bringing some Michelin star skills to Folkestone sounds nice. I hope the cooking is better than the geography, and the website goes nowhere. Will keep an eye on this one...

This is part of my site The Folkestone Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first came to Folkestone sometime in '04. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while before that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. The site was updated more frequently with a calendar of events + voting for favourite places and things, and I hear it was a useful resource for those who were thinking of moving to the area. Now Iʼve moved out of Folkestone again (though just to Hythe) it doesnʼt get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was just about to. I am not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, + how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are GRATE arenʼt they? Do get in touch if you have something to contribute, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
