Blog2010 ≫ Infrared repeater is in!

Involved hole cutting some of our fancy fine John Lewis oak furniture though...

Fitted the infrared repeater kit last night, it's working well. I was thinking of stalling a bit as it necessitated drilling a whole in one of these1 big enough to pass a three pin plug and scart lead through, but I just gritted my teeth and did it in the end. Only nearly drilled through a live electric cable, because I did not fancy moving the furniture right out, but we're done. The whole is only in the back panel of the furniture, so does not show, and the back is not as fancily finished as the front. Still a good half inch thick though, that's some nice furniture from John Lewis2 blook for it on (/wiki/#ebay) for some half price action...

When we got married we bought some [ebay=john lewis bergerac]Bergerac furniture from John Lewis[/ebay], two book cases, and I thought we'd eventually buy just this. It's very expensive, and a bit chunky, and now they discontinued it anyway. We bought a sideboard, that turned out to be a slightly different colour to the bookcases, ah well. I think we're better off with lighter furniture (lighter in colour, and in generallyless heavy feeling in sheer presence), but it's still lovely stuff. [ebay=john lewis bergerac]You might still get it here occasionally[/ebay].

I didn't move the DVD player into the cupboard yet, but I got the XBox out, wired it up and hid it all away, and it works fine. Didn't want to unplug everything else in case there was any problem and we were without TV for the night, but now I know it works I'll tuck the Wii and the DVD away tonight. We will not exactly have a tidy minimal front room, but it's a couple of dust traps out of sight at least...

Did not get to try out the remote dimmer yet. 1 Stop Electrics3 did try to deliver it yesterday, but they would not leave it without a signature. It's only a light switch! I wish it had been delivered by royal mail, our postman at the new place uses his nouse so I have not had to go and collect anything yet. I think I would not use 1 Stop Electrics again because they use that courier service. They were cheapest for next day delivery, sounded good, but if I don't actually get what I ordered the next day I might as well have just gone with B&Q, Screwfix, Homebase, Amazon, all selling the same thing at about the same price, shame.

Ugh heard a word today brancept that I do not like at all. Sounds like someting @kosso would have come up with...
