Legendary Folkestone venue reopens its doors...

Never mind your creative quarter and your ASDA and all that, look whose front door was open today! This is evidence of the regeneration of Folkestone.

I don't remember seeing it in the masterplan, but I think that's all out the window now. So who is working on []]The Elizabethan, and what are they doing? Flats? Offices? Or an actual new place to go in Folkestone?

I say "legendary" Folkestone venue, maybe it's just me who is obsessed with it. I have lived here for about six years and never seen it open, what a treat to have a peek inside.

I did not dare actually go in, but if you ever did (this person did does that still look about the same? Reminds me of a Beefeater or something.

I'm off to Legends of Folkestone1 with this one.

This is my website The 'Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first came to Folkestone sometime in '04. I had been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that so I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. This site was updated more frequently with a calendar of events + voting for favourite places and things, and I hear it was a useful resource for those who were thinking of moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was about to become. My name is not Gerald BTW, this comes from a pretend paper in an episode of Brasseye or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are GRATE aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on the twitter.
