Blog2009 ≫ Splendid weekend

Nice time with the family, the boy was good, tried some good vino too

Been at mum and dad's, great to see so many of the family in one go, ridiculous that I manage to leave it so long between times. Did not get time to catch up with any friends this time but hopefully will do soon.

The boy was very good all weekend, he even slept through the night in the travel cot. This bodes well for our trip next week! We had a terrible drive down to Mum and Dad's, The boy was alright but the traffic was dreadful so it ended up being about four hours fifteen with stops. On the way back we avoided the A3 and Hindhead altogether and went A29 and M23 instead - some nice country lanes there and interesting to drive a different way. Some of it was quite slow, but we kept moving, and got home in about three hours, with one brief stop. Might try a variation on this new route next time, though next time we go we will be travelling there on a weekday afternoon to see Ricky Gervais

Bought some wine on the way down Chateau Clarke 2002 from Sainsbury's - never pass up a wine with your name on it! I liked it, had a slight edge to it like I should have given it more time to breath or maybe it's just going to be better left. Claret is a bit of a mystery to me though. Dom, one for your cellar I think! Fareham is obviously seen as a more affluent area by Sainsbury's at least, as they have this wine and a whole "fine wines" section. Even our Waitrose fine wine section down here is not this good :-(
