Gate 28 looking FRIGHTENING!

FG ≫ 2009 ≫ Gate 28 looking FRIGHTENING!

DISGUISED as a South London estate pub just for today!

Just walked past there too, and it was cunningly disguised as the place I would like to go to LEAST in the world. St George flags everywhere and a big banner advertising Sky Sports. I know a St George cross should not have any negative connotations, and we non racists should be reclaiming it, and if everyone can wear guinness hats and shamrock pants on St Patricks day then why the hell not, but it somehow didn't appeal. I see the flags and the offer of sports and I am put in mind only of a hub of soccer violence on a sink estate...

Happy St Georges day to you all, and good luck to Gate 28. Reckon I will be back for a vino collapso and a nice sit down one day when all the paraphernalia has been put away.

(Still walking the streets of Sandgate so you don't have to...)

This is my site The 'Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first moved to Folkestone sometime in 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a while previous to that but I am technically one of those Down From Londons you get nowadays. This site was updated more frequently with a gig calendar + voting for favourite places + things, + I hear it was a useful resource for others who were moving to the area. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just a couple of miles) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as Folkestone itself is now becoming the exciting place we knew it was about to become. My name is not Gerald by the way, this comes from the name of a pretend paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, + how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are GRATE aren't they? Do get in touch if you have something to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
