Someone on flickr.com recommended geosetter1, which seems to have done the trick so far. Will try jetphotosoft.com2 too, see which one works most smoothly... geosetter1 automatically tags images with the looked up name of the town and country nearest to your location, so my holiday photos are automatically tagged Lazio, Roma, etc...
