Not Folkestone, not even that local, but a fairly easy journey from Folkestone to the O2 Arena, one we're making, I'd hate for you to miss out too. It's The Cure, and they're headlining the NME poll winners party1 type thing. Officially sold out, but you can still get tickets here1 at not a bad price at all, standing around the 53 quid1 mark, seating in all areas cheaper. Similar deals on ebay too.
Support possibly from White Lies and Crystal Castles, though the rumours do keep changing, there are more to be announced. I'm keeping an eye on this event page2 on last.fm3, though I guess nme.com4 ought to know what's going on...

This is part of my site The FG that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first moved here in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a few years before that but I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events + voting for favourite venues + things, + I hear it was a useful reference for those who were thinking of moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though only to Hythe) it doesn't get as much love as it used to. Ironic really as The town is now becoming the exciting place we always thought it was about to become. I am not Gerald by the way, the name comes from a fake paper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald.
