The Light Before Christmas (win a Wii)

FG ≫ 2008 ≫ The Light Before Christmas (win a Wii)

As the days get shorter and the evenings darker, the Light Before Christmas prepares to illuminate Folkestones Creative Quarter.

Saturday the 20th December will see an illuminated procession through the streets of Folkestone, down the Old High Street and into the Harbour Area for a lively arts market and Christmas songs. Illuminations, music, live window performances and displays will entertain you on this festive evening. Brought to you by Tonic - a creative business project held at the University Centre Folkestone and funded by the Kent and Medway Lifelong Learning Network. The objective of the project is to increase footfall into the Creative Quarter and help to promote the work of local artists.

This is part of my website The Folkestone Gerald that I set up in a fury of excitement when we first moved here in approximately 2004. I'd been a frequent visitor for a few years before that but I am technically one of those DFLs you get nowadays. The site was a lot more dynamic with a calendar of events and voting for favourite venues and things, and I hear it was a useful reference for those who were moving here. Now I've moved out of Folkestone again (though just to Hythe) it doesn't get as much attention as it used to. Ironic really as The town is becoming the exciting place we knew it was about to become. My name is not Gerald by the way, this comes from a pretend newspaper in an episode of The Day Today or something, the Portsmouth Gerald, and how there is a local paper here called the Folkestone Herald. Puns like this are great aren't they? Do get in touch if you have anything to offer, email anythign @ this domain, or try @folkestone or @pauly on Twitter.
